Lauren (Ren) Hackley, LSW


Ren Hackley is a licensed social worker with experience working with the college student population, young adults, and in harm reduction settings. Ren holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from The Ohio State University and a Master of Social Work from The University of Akron. She has worked in alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention and harm reduction outreach with Ohio State's Student Wellness Center and through the organization Buckeyes For Harm Reduction. Additionally, Ren has worked in suicide prevention and mental health promotion within collegiate settings with both The University of Akron's ZipAssist office, and with Northeast Ohio Medical University as a Collegiate Mental Health Assistant with The Ohio Program for Campus Safety and Mental Health.

 

Ren is competent in providing LGBTQIA+ affirming care and addressing a range of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, sexuality or gender identity concerns, suicidal ideation, and relationship challenges/issues. Her therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based practices, motivational interviewing, and Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy  (IPSRT). Ren is passionate about offering client-centered, trauma-informed care, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for clients. 


Outside of work, Ren enjoys spending time with family, playing with their dog Maci, watching YouTube, exercising, and playing instruments/singing.


Ren is working under the supervision of Brittany Roppel, LISW-S, LICDC, while she pursues her licensure as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW).
